One of the most talked about indie Nollywood films of recent years is getting a new home. Yahoo Plus, the debut feature film by writer and director Ebuka Njoku, is coming to Nigerian streaming platform Kava on July 9, 2026, distributed by FilmOne Entertainment.

The film is set in Enugu and tells the story of two childhood friends, Ose and Abacha, who are frustrated by their failed attempts to break into the Nollywood industry and turn to internet fraud as a side hustle. When the scheme falls short of expectations, they are pulled deeper into the dangerous world of Yahoo Plus, a combination of blood rituals and fraud, where love and unforeseen circumstances begin to test everything between them.

Their story runs alongside Kamso and Pino-Pino, two young women also caught in survival trades of their own. The film examines ambition under pressure, where every choice carries a cost.

The cast features Ken Erics as the calculating fixer Ikolo, Somadina Adinma as Abacha, Keezyto as Ose, Echelon Mbadiwe as Kamso, Ifeoma Obinwa as Pino-Pino, and Lorenzo Menakaya, who also serves as co-producer, as Mansa, a Hong Kong based crime lord at the centre of the operation.

Yahoo Plus enjoyed a festival run at the University of Nigeria, the Eastern Nigeria International Film Festival, the Coal City Film Festival, and a Lagos premiere at The Annual Film Mischief before landing a distribution deal with FilmOne, which saw it screen at cinemas across the country. It subsequently moved to Netflix, where it has continued to find new audiences and featured on multiple best-of lists.

Working with the slenderest of budgets, the film tells a story of youthful anxiety and diabolical derring-do in a way that is intimately human. Critics noted that what the film lacked in production scale, it more than compensated for with sharp writing, grounded performances, and a boldness of vision that felt rare for a debut feature.

Its arrival on Kava gives Nigerian audiences another opportunity to engage with a film that sparked real conversation about how Nollywood tells stories around internet fraud, ambition, and the dangerous mythology that surrounds it.

Yahoo Plus starts streaming on Kava on July 9, 2026.
