Mount Zion Film Productions will hold a director screening of "Agbara Nla: The Return" with Damilola Mike-Bamiloye on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at EbonyLife Cinemas, 2pm. The event comes as the film continues its nationwide cinema run following a record-breaking opening earlier this month.
"Agbara Nla: The Return" is the revival of the 1993 gospel classic "Agbara Nla," created by Evangelist Mike Bamiloye. The new instalment is led by Damilola and Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, the next generation of the Bamiloye family, with Chris Odeh heading production and Mohammed Sedik and Damilola Bamiloye serving as co-producers. The cast includes Mike Bamiloye reprising his role as Isawuru, alongside Philip Olubakin as Olaboye, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye as Kola, and Aanu Kolade Abiodun as Bose. Mount Zion Production, Sozo Films and Circuits are behind the revival, with Nile Entertainment distributing and Pivot Integrated Energy Services Ltd listed as a supporter.
The film opened in cinemas nationwide on October 1, 2026, and has since set multiple Nollywood box office records. Its preview screenings alone grossed roughly N71 million, the biggest single-day preview performance reported for a Nollywood film. Its official opening weekend added close to N99 million, bringing its total to about N170.6 million within its first four days, making it the biggest October opening in Nollywood history, the biggest opening for a faith-based film at the Nigerian box office, and the biggest non-December opening the industry has recorded. Only "Everybody Loves Jenifa" and "Behind The Scenes" have opened bigger.
The original "Agbara Nla," centred on spiritual battles against witchcraft, occult practices and demonic strongholds, remains one of the most referenced titles in Nigerian gospel drama. More than three decades on, its revival is drawing audiences who grew up with the original alongside a new generation discovering the story for the first time, a crossover reflected in the scale of its opening numbers.
The October 18 director screening gives audiences a chance to engage directly with Damilola Mike-Bamiloye on the making of the film, as "Agbara Nla: The Return" continues showing in cinemas nationwide.
