The Nigerian International Film Summit is closing out its Lagos 2026 edition with a free public film screening day at Silverbird Cinemas Galleria, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Thursday 27th August 2026 from 9:00am to 6:00pm. The event, titled Relax N Chill With NIFS Movie Screenings, is free and open to the public and requires no ticket to attend.
The screening day is part of NIFS Lagos 2026, which runs from 25th to 27th August 2026 and serves as the summit's flagship African edition within a global 2026 calendar that spans Lagos, Miami, London, Paris, Cannes, Toronto, Singapore, Los Angeles, and several other cities. The Lagos edition is the central hub of the entire programme for African film and television professionals.
Six films are on the official screening programme for the day, ranging from a feature film to short films, each selected to reflect different dimensions of independent Nigerian storytelling.
Point of Theft opens the day at 10:00am and runs for one hour and 43 minutes. Directed and executive produced by Sunny Okonkwo under Libra Scale World, the film follows a father who secretly fakes dementia and manipulates his son into a dangerous scheme of fraud and deception, with betrayal, mistrust, and shocking revelations threatening the family bond.
Missed Call screens at 11:45am and runs for 14 minutes. Directed and executive produced by Choice Obaro under One Film Africa, it tells the story of a young woman who is unable to accept the death of her partner and continues to live as though he is still alive until grief begins to unravel her grip on reality.
Void follows at 12:00pm and runs for nine minutes. Directed and executive produced by Favour Jimoh under Chocolate Dreams Studios, it follows a young man whose unresolved trauma forces him to confront painful truths he has spent a lifetime avoiding.
Not Beyond Repair screens at 12:10pm and runs for 15 minutes. Produced by Erukakpomre Promise Obruche under EPO Films, it tells the story of a weary pastor who returns home to find his estranged son waiting with a gun and years of resentment, demanding answers and accountability.
Dapo screens at 12:40pm and runs for 14 minutes. Directed and produced by Omotilewa Odeyemi under Iworan Studio Ltd, the film follows a quiet 14-year-old boy who begins to question years of abuse and manipulation, setting him on a painful path toward truth and healing.
Gone Wrong closes the formal screening programme at 1:30pm and runs for one hour and 25 minutes. Directed and produced by Emmanuel Oritsetimeyin Ofeno under Wheel84 Studios Ltd and Veezzy Entertainment, the film follows a young man whose attempt to conceal the death of a woman in his apartment leads to his arrest and prosecution by a former lover seeking justice.
