Two of Nollywood’s most exciting young faces are coming together for a new romance that looks like exactly the kind of film Nollywood YouTube does best.
Jennifer Okorie’s upcoming production Girl Next Door brings together Frances Nwabunike and Kelvin Ezike in the lead roles, supported by Ifeoma Odukwe and Lam Chris, and from the poster alone, the chemistry between the two leads is already doing a lot of talking.

Frances Nwabunike first caught widespread attention with her standout performance in Ruth Kadiri’s Perfect Four in 2023, a role that established her as one of the most promising faces in a new generation of Nollywood actresses. She has since gone on to appear in Love Square, Love in Transit, and Lagos Big Girls, building a quietly impressive portfolio for someone still early in her career. A graduate of Del-York Creative Academy and the Department of Theatre Arts at Anambra State University, Nwabunike is also the founder of Dream Darlings Studio Nigeria, making her one of those rare talents who is building on both sides of the creative and business divide at the same time.

Kelvin Ezike, popularly known as Callmikenzy, made his Nollywood debut in Ruth Kadiri’s After School in 2024, having first built a massive social media following on TikTok through humorous skits, dance videos, and relatable content. His breakthrough role in After School led to more opportunities, and he has since appeared in several notable films including The Girl That Saved Me, Love and the Crown, and Fight for Me, expanding his acting portfolio at a pace that suggests his trajectory in Nollywood is only just beginning. He is currently a software engineering student at Babcock University, balancing academics with a fast-growing career in film.

Girl Next Door tells the story of a privileged young man who returns from the UK to rural Nigeria, where he meets Amaka, a hardworking orphan determined to survive against all odds. What begins as constant clashes between two people from completely different worlds soon blossoms into an unexpected love, but heartbreak, family secrets, and class differences threaten to tear them apart. Will love be enough to heal old wounds and rewrite their future?
Girl Next Door premieres on Dashing Film TV on 25th July 2026.
